KDF PARTNERS WITH GREEN AFRICA FOUNDATION IN A TREE PLANTING EXERCISE

Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers at Embakasi Garrison in collaboration with Greens Africa Foundation engaged in a tree planting exercise at Embakasi Garrison, Nairobi, on 31st August 2022.

The exercise aimed at improving the tree cover within the military camp as part of KDF’s Environmental Soldier Program established in the year 2003 to enable soldiers to be at the centre stage of tree planting initiative in the country. This is a program that targets to have three million trees planted annually with the aim of restoring the environment which has been rapidly deteriorating due to climate change and rampant deforestation.

Senior Officers, Officers, and Service Members managed to plant over 800 tree seedlings of various indigenous, exotic, and fruit types within the military establishment.

The CEO Greens Africa Foundation Miss Jedidiah Wanyeki who was present during the exercise urged the military to keep pushing hard to conserve the environment by planting trees to preserve the ecological system inhabited by mankind.
