MWAK and FAMILY BANK LAUNCH PLUMBING AND ELECTRICAL SKILL DEVELOPMENT TRAINING PARTNERSHIP

The Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) and Family Bank Group have today 20th March 2023, officially entered into partnership and launched the Construction Skills Development Project at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Lang’ata Nairobi.

Spearheaded by the Chairperson MWAK Mrs. Tabitha Kibochi, the association officially penned down an agreement with Family Bank Group, to walk hand in hand in paving way for young men and women, by preparing them for both local and the global market by equipping them with necessary skills in plumbing and electrical work.

Giving his speech during the ceremony, the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Robert Kibochi, lauded MWAK for stepping up and establishing the association which looks out for the soldier’s welfare, appreciating their keen eye on the wellbeing of a soldiers family.

General Kibochi, further highlighted the fact that the demand for skills is very high and the launch is timely to fill this gap and at the same time equip the youth with hands-on skills to help them in life.

CDF further gave his word to offer placement based on merit for students after the course is over at the recently established Ulinzi Construction Company, under the Kenya Ordinance Defence Industry in Eldoret.

Speaking during the launch, Executive Director Family Group Foundation Mr.John Wamiri, highlighted how elated Family Group is to be part of the journey of being an enabler of the CDF’s vision of sharpening the Arrow Head.

Mr. Wamiri additionally pointed out that through the partnership, MWAK and Family Group are bridging the gap between the level market demands and establishing a career path for young men and women who are dependants of KDF service men and women.

On the same platform Chief Executive Officer Family Bank Ms. Rebecca Mbithi, retaliated Mr. Wamiri’s sentiments of intentionally and positively impacting society through the program. She further appreciated MWAK for giving the bank an opportunity to walk far together as MWAK‘s vision mirrors Family Bank’s intentions of improving the society where they have imprinted.

Ms. Mbithi also stated that the program is aimed at offering hands-on skills together with financial basics for the students to be equipped with the knowledge of managing their finances.

Vice Chair Family Bank Architect Francis Mungai, encouraged young girls to take up courses such as plumbing and electrical work as the programs are gender inclusive, saying the students are highly placed in the construction sector. He implored on the students not to get comfortable but rather to strive to further improve on skills learned at higher levels.

He noted that at the end of the course, the students will get accreditation from National Industrial Training Authority.

Present during the occasion was the Vice Chief of Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Francis Ogolla, Service Commanders, Family Bank Group Board members, members of MWAK, Senior Officers, Officers and Service personnel.
