KDF TROOPS DONATE POULTRY TO WOMEN GROUPS IN DHOBLEY

The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Female Engagement Team (FET) deployed in Somalia under African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM) on Wednesday, 17th November 2021 donated hybrid chicken to local women groups in Dhobley to start poultry businesses.

FET team leader Lieutenant Colonel (Reverend) Jane Wairimu, while handing over the donation, said the hybrid chicken will be instrumental in improving local chicken breed through cross breeding.

“As we continue to fight terror in Somalia, we are also devoted in supporting and offering sustainable solutions to women and youth who are most highly vulnerable to terrorism activities. This aspect is critical as it offers ways for them to build the economy and support society,” said Lieutenant Colonel Wairimu.

She urged the women to ensure they rear the poultry using the best practices acquired through training for sustainability.

Local women group leader Fatumo Abdi Yusuf thanked the KDF troops for enabling them start effective and innovative projects towards income generation.

KDF under AMISOM remains committed to supporting Somalia locals with projects to improve their livelihoods in the ongoing stabilization efforts.
