KING CHARLES III AND QUEEN CAMILLA VISIT KENYA NAVY BASE MTONGWE

His Excellency Dr William Ruto, President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander -in- Chief of the Defence Forces today received Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla at the Kenya Navy Base, Mtongwe in Mombasa where the Royal Navy Marines are training Kenya Navy Marine Commandos.

During the visit, The King of the United Kingdom inspected a guard of honour mounted by Kenya Navy before witnessing Kenya Navy Marine Commandos (KNMC) conduct amphibious landing drills at Mtongwe jetty.

The Kenya Defence Forces,especially the Kenya Navy has over the years been a great beneficiary of technical support and special training from the Royal Navy which has enabled successful technology and skills transfer. This has enhanced the capability and preparedness of the Sailors to combat the contemporary maritime security threats.

KNMC have received special training in both Basic and Advanced Marine Commandos Course whose first batch graduated early this year. The training for the second batch is underway.

Their Majesties together with their host, President Ruto, had a meet and greet session with the Kenya Navy families and KNMC undergoing the Basic Marine Commando Course to appreciate their selfless sacrifice in service to the nation.

Also present were the First Lady Her Excellency Rachel Ruto, Deputy President HE Rigathi Gachagua as well as the Prime Cabinet Secretary and CS for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Hon. Musalia Mudavadi.
Others include several Cabinet Secretaries among them Hon. Aden Duale (Defence), the Chief of Defence Forces General Francis Ogolla, Service Commanders and other Senior Government and military officials from the two countries.
