JOINT COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE (JCSC) UNDERTAKES NATIONAL INDUSTRIAL CAPACITY (NIC) AND REGIONAL VISITS TO ENHANCE DEFENCE RELATIONS

The Commandant Joint Command and Staff College – KAREN Maj Gen E M Kinuthia together with college leadership, faculty members and the Senior Joint Command and Staff Course 38-2022/23 undertook the National Industrial Capacity visit from 6 – 9 March 2023 while the Regional Visit was from 12 – 17 March 2023. The theme of this year visits was “INTEGRATING SECURITY WITH NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT”.

Locally, the Course visited Kenya Port Authority (KPA), Kenya Marine Fisheries Research Institute (KEMFRI), Kenya Coast Guard Services (KCGS), Bamburi Cement, Kenya Maritime Authority (KMA) and Kenya Shipyards Limited (KSL) in the Coast. They also visited Isuzu EA, Kenya Broadcasting Corporation (KBC), Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) and Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KARLO) within Nairobi in their quest to understand how these organizations contribute to national development.

The regional visits were aimed at fostering defence relations, identifying areas of industrial capabilities and establishing linkages for future cooperation. The course was split into 4 teams that visited the following countries, The Republic of Namibia, Republic of Malawi, Republic of Rwanda and The United Republic of Tanzania. Through interactions with various institutions the students gained insights not only in defence and national development aspects but also in appreciating the diverse cultures and heritages.
