Defence Principal Secretary Mr. Patrick Mariru today visited The Luigi Broglio-Malindi Space Centre for a familiarisation tour. The Space Centre is managed by the Italian Space Agency (ASI) in partnership with the Kenya Space Agency (KSA). The facility is used for telemetry, tracking and command services for rocket launching and acquisition of data from astronomy satellites.
Mr Patrick Mariru appreciated the partnership with Italy and reaffirmed that the Government of Kenya is committed to enhance further collaboration. He further stated the importance of the facility to space operations as it is located near the equator.
During the visit, the PS toured the ground and sea segments of the agency accompanied by the Director-General Kenya Space Agency Brigadier Hillary Kipkosgey together with senior management from KSA and ASI.
