Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale has today presided over the closing ceremony of a shooting match between Kenya and England teams organized by the Kenya Sports Shooting Federation (KSSF) at the Laikipia Air Base.
The week-long championships brought together the security agencies among them the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the General Service Unit (GSU), the Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) among other agencies.
The CS hailed the organizers of the championships saying the activity helps the security agencies to enhance their skills through training, competition and professional development.
Hon. Duale further observed that the sport encourages diversity and inclusivity in sports shooting by incorporating the youths and women from various backgrounds.
“This event has brought together shooters from two countries, Kenya and the United Kingdom which have a history of friendship and partnerships. The UK remains one of the most important and trusted partners with cooperation covering wide areas of mutual interest,” said the CS.
He affirmed that the Ministry of Defence continues to undertake numerous programs and activities with the UK with an aim of developing capacity for the KDF and providing shared solutions for common problems.
He maintained that the activity helps in promoting and progressing the growth of shooting as a sport in Kenya as an alternative for sports enthusiasts.
