KENYA NAVY INTER-UNITS VOLLEYBALL COMPETITION COMES TO AN END

The Deputy Commander Kenya Navy Base (KNB) Mtongwe, Colonel Evans Oguga on 31 March 2022 presided over the closing ceremony of the Kenya Navy Inter-Units Volleyball tournament held at the KNB, Mtongwe in Mombasa County.

The three-day tournament marked the annual volleyball competition aimed at forming a formidable team to play in the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) Bora Cup Volleyball competition.

In the highly contested preliminary games, teams drawn from Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, Kenya Navy Base Manda, Kenya Navy Fleet, Kenya Naval Training College (KNTC) and Naval Logistics participated in the competition.

Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe won the men’s final with Kenya Navy Base Manda securing the runners up position. In the ladies’ finals Kenya Navy Fleet emerged winners while KNTC took the runners up position.

Senior Private Moses Macharia and Senior Sergeant Catherine Onoka emerged the best male and female players respectively.

The Commander Kenya Navy (KN) speech was read by Colonel Oguga. He congratulated all the participants of the event and the selected teams. He urged the teams to synergize hard training from team managers to bring more trophies home.

Additionally, the Commander wished the teams well and urged them to put their best foot forward. He expressed confidence in the team’s abilities to deliver even in the grandest of stages.

In attendance were Senior Officers, Officers and Service Members.
