ARMY SERGEANT MAJOR

Warrant Officer Class One (WOI) Fanuel Mahebo was born in 1963. He was enlisted into the then Kenya Armed Forces (currently Kenya Defence Forces, KDF) as a recruit and undertook his basic military training at the then Armed Forces Training College (AFTC). After completion of his training, he was posted to 81 Tank Battalion,

During his career in the Kenya Defence Forces, WOI Fanuel Mahebo has held several appointments and conducted various assignments in a number of KDF Formations, majorly as an instructor and a Kenya Army Armoured Corps (KAAC) Service Member. He was part of the Third Kenyan Battalion (KENBAT 3) for peacekeeping mission in the former Yugoslavia.

He has also served under the Fifth Kenyan Contingent to Somalia under the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM). After his tour-of-duty to Somalia, he was promoted to the rank of WOI. WOI Mahebo is the immediate former University Sergeant Major (USM) at the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K) based in Nakuru County. He previously was the Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM) at the 81 Tank Battalion, RSM at the Kenya Military Academy (KMA) and Academy Sergeant Major (ACSM) at KMA.

In recognition to his exemplary service, WOI Fanuel Mahebo has been honoured and decorated with the following Medals; 1st 10 Great Years of Nyayo Era, 20 Great Years of Nyayo Era, 25th Anniversary Commemorative Medal, 20th Anniversary Commemorative Medal, Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, United Nations Medal (Yugoslavia) and the Constitutional Medal.

WOI Fanuel Mahebo is married and blessed with five children.
