The Chief of Logistics at Defence Headquarters (DHQ), Brigadier Jacob Ondieki, presided over the closing ceremony of DHQ Officers and Procurement Clerks training at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.
He was joined by Mr. Willis Onyango Olwalo, Deputy Director of Supply Chain Department Management Services at the Ministry of Defence.
The two-week training aimed to enhance the capacity and skills of KDF’s procurement officers and clerks in complying with the Public Procurement and Disposal Act 2015 and its 2020 regulations, while promoting ethical and effective procurement practices. Participants included officers and clerks from various Defence Headquarters procurement departments across the three Services.
The course covered a broad range of topics, including the Procurement Procedures, Methods and Ethics, Tender Document Preparation, Tender Evaluation, Contract Management, and the Preparation of Submissions for the Procurement Advisory Board (PAB).
In his remarks, Mr. Olwalo stressed the importance of compliance with Kenyan law and strict adherence to legal procurement processes.
On his part, Brig. Ondieki highlighted the critical role of procurement in an institution’s performance, expressing confidence that the training had equipped participants with the knowledge and skills to uphold best practices and ethical standards in procurement.
He urged participants to share the knowledge with their colleagues in their respective offices.
