Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) second Brigade Recce team today 20 November 2022 finished a four day reconnaissance visit to farmilialize themselves with the situation of various Forward Operating Bases (FOBs) in Somalia where they will be operating under African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS).
During their visit at Dhobley FOB, the team was briefed on the missions mandate as enshrined on the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 2628 and the team, lead by Brigadier William Kamoiro demonstrated desire to take on the mantle of enhancing the capabilities of Somalia Security Forces (SSF) and their institutions once they rotate in.
“We are adequately trained and committed to peace support operation in an effort to forster stabilization of our neighbor, Somalia,” added Brig Kamoiro.
The Sector Commander, sector two Brigadier Jattani Gula underlined the importance of the reconnaissance as it allows the Commander to understand the operating environment better.
” Its of great importance to understand the environment we operate on as it helps focus our efforts on the threats to security and mission accomplishment,” added Brig Gula.
The team visited all the FOBs manned by KDF troops both in sector two and sector six.
