CHIEF OF DEFENCE FORCES HOSTS PAKISTAN COUNTERPART

Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Robert Kibochi on Monday, 28th February 2022 hosted the Pakistan Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Nadeem Raza on an official four day visit to Kenya.

The CJCSC inspected a Guard of Honour mounted by the Kenya Air Force at the Defence Headquarters and proceeded for a closed-door meeting with the CDF and a delegation of Senior military Officers from both countries. He also met the Cabinet Secretary for Defence Hon. Eugene Wamalwa.

The meetings centered on reviewing the major areas of cooperation and best ways to enhance partnership between the two Armed Forces in a bid to strengthen their ties, mainly on security.

On the same day, the CJCSC also visited Headquarters Kenya Army (KA) where he was hosted by Commander KA Lieutenant General Walter Koipaton and taken through a brief highlight of the key role and mandate the Service undertakes to secure the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Kenya from external threats or aggression.

He later in the afternoon, visited the Kenya Air Force (KAF) at Moi Air Base where he was hosted by Commander KAF Major General John Omenda and taken through the various aircrafts owned by KAF, their functions, capabilities and performance in their mission to secure the Kenyan airspace.

On Tuesday, 1st March 2022, the CJCSC visited the Kenya Navy Headquarters where he held discussions with Commander Kenya Navy Major General Jimson Mutai on maritime security and stability.

At Mtongwe Kenya Navy Base, General Raza was taken through the Full Mission Bridge Simulator (FMBS) and toured the Kenya Shipyards Limited Mombasa Shipard where he was appraised of the  milestones made since the facility was commissioned.

The visit by the Pakistan military delegation comes eight months after the CDF, General Kibochi, visited the Joint Staff  Headquarters in Rawalpindi as well as the Air Force and Naval Headquarters in Islamabad , where issues of mutual interests between the two forces were discussed.

During the visit, General Raza was accompanied by the Pakistan High Commissioner to Kenya Her Excellency Saglain Syedan, Director General Joint Warfare and Training Rear Admiral Abdul Butt, Principal Staff Officer to CJCSC Brigdaier Faisal Khan, and the Pakistan Defence Attache to Kenya Brigadier Shehryar Qureshi.
