NDU-K HOLDS TWO-DAY COUNCIL INAUGURAL MEETING IN NAKURU

Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF), General Robert Kibochi presided over the National Defence University – Kenya (NDU-K) Council’s inaugural meeting at the University Headquarters in Nakuru.

The two day event saw inauguration of the university council members, signing of declaration instruments, presentation of NDU-K Anthem and proposals for NDU-K constituents colleges branding.

The CDF, who is also the University’s Council Chairperson, implored the strategic leadership to steer the institution towards offering quality programs, properly aligned with the field of defence and security.

He urged the council members to embrace unity of purpose in order to establish robust grounding that will enable the NDU-K grow along the path envisioned by the government and the people of Kenya.

NDU-K’s first Vice Chancellor, Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi said that the institution is in pursuit of education, research, innovation and community outreach to produce graduates of honour and integrity, capable of securing the country and enhancing national performance.

Chairperson, Kenyatta University Teaching , Referral & Research Hospital Professor Olive Mugenda, in her keynote address themed ‘Transformational leadership in higher education’, implored the university’s management to develop strong partnership as a vital element in the growth of the institution in order to share technical knowledge, competencies, resources and other benefits.

The National Defence College, Defence Staff College, Kenya Military Academy, Defence Forces Technical College and International Peace Support Training Center and the National Intelligence Research University College are currently under the umbrella of NDU-K.

Present during the event were Vice Chief of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Francis Ogolla, Defence Principal Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed, Service Commanders, NIS Director General, Commission for University Education (CUE) CEO, Kenya National Quality Assurance (KNQA) CEO, Salaries and Remuneration Commission (SRC) Director, Senior Officers, Officers and invited guests.
