CS DEFENCE VISITS KDF TROOPS IN CONGO

The Cabinet Secretary for Defence Hon Eugene Wamalwa on Tuesday, 22 February 2022 visited Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops deployed at the United Nations Organization Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO) in the company of Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General Walter Koipaton.

MONUSCO Force Commander Lieutenant General Marcos de Sá Affonso da Costa received the Kenyan delegation and praised the KDF troops for demonstrating professionalism and diligence in performing their duties.

The Kenyan delegation visited the Quick Reaction Force troops (KEN QRF 1) at Mavivi in Beni Eastern Congo where the Defence Cabinet Secretary addressed the troops saying the KDF command appreciates their selfless efforts in executing the UN mandate.

“We thank you for your service to humanity which is a service to God. Your sacrifice is not in vain. Your efforts will highly contribute to spurring of socio-economic activities which are critical in achieving peace,” said the Defence CS.

The Commander Kenya Army expressed his gratitude for the way KEN QRF 1 has continued to conduct its operation with other contingents in eradicating the threats in Eastern DRC.

He expressed his gratitude to the soldiers for their continued demonstration of integrity and professionalism in line with the UN values.
