The Vice Chief of the Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi on Friday 15 September 2023 chaired a regular College Control Board Meeting of the Joint Command and Staff College (JCSC) in Karen, Nairobi for FY 23/24. Membership of the Board includes: Principal Secretary MOD, Service Commanders, ACDF Personnel & Logistics DHQ, Commandant Joint Command and Staff College, DVC Academic Affairs & Research NDU-K, Chief of Reseach Doctrine & Training Evaluation and the Deputy Commandant JCSC as the Secretary.
The College Control Board is the governing body that is responsible for the overall administration of JCSC. The meetings are conducted twice a year, this was the first meeting of this financial year. The meeting was updated on the College’s progress on the ongoing courses, plans for the upcoming events and areas of administration that may require policy guidance.
The college aims to develop the militaty professional knowledge and skills of student officers. Additionally, as a College of the National Defence University – Kenya (NDU-K) it offers both ordinary and post-graduate diplomas in Defence and Strategic Studies. The College has two ongoing courses, the Senior Joint Command and Staff Course Number 39-2023/2024 and the Junior Joint Command & Staff Course 96/23.
