DEFENCE CS PRESIDES OVER THE SIGNING OF PERFORMANCE CONTRACT

The Cabinet Secretary for Defence Hon. Eugene Wamalwa on Wednesday, 08 December 2021 presided over the signing of the performance contracts between the Ministry of Defence and three parastatals affiliated to the Ministry for the financial year 2021/2022 at the Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.

Speaking during the event that brought together the senior leadership of the Kenya Ordnance Factory Corporation (KOFC), the Kenya Meat Commission (KMC) as well the Kenya Space Agency (KSA), the CS hailed the parastatals for their immense contribution in the nation building and implored them to continue making the Ministry proud.

He noted that despite the Covid-19 pandemic, service delivery has continued undeterred thus there’s need to gauge the performance of service delivery of the various ministries, agencies and state departments.

The concept of performance contract was enacted in the year 2003 with a view of enhancing accountability and is aimed at improving efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery by the public service.

In the last financial year, the three parastatals posed good results where KMC scored 3.58 grade, KOFC 3.4 grade and KSA 3.07.

The event was attended by Defence Chief Administrative Secretary Hon. Peter Odoyo, Principal Secretary Dr. Ibrahim Mohamed, the Vice Chief of Defence Forces Lieutenant General Francis Ogolla, Chairpersons, Director Generals and senior officials of the three parastatals.
