Commander Kenya Army Lieutenant General Walter Koipaton today hosted the Kencoy 15 – Darfur, at Kenya Army Headquarters, for their welcoming home party.
The party was held in honour of the Kenya Defence Forces contingent comprising of 75 Military Police personnel who returned home after completing their tour of duty under the African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation Mission in Darfur (UNAMID).
Lt. Gen W Koipaton congratulated the soldiers for the successful completion of their tour of duty and safely coming back home to KDF and to their respective families.
“Am happy that there were no complaints from the host country, you maintained your professionalism and discipline during your mission. The core mandate while on your Mission was mainly Military Law and Order Enforcement and Investigations, which you executed.
Unfortunately, I am sorry you could not invite your families today to come celebrate with us due to this pandemic though I am certain that they are proud of all of you.” said the Army Commander.
Speaking at the same event Major Jackson Muthee, the Officer in Charge affirmed that they worked diligently guided by the core values of integrity, commitment to duty and professionalism. Adding that they developed strong interpersonal skills, mental agility, flexibility and speed of execution of all provost duties.
Senior Private Hilda Makandi on behalf of her fellow soldiers expressed her gratitude to all her commanders and everyone who made the peace keeping mission in Darfur – Sudan a success.
“The tour to Sudan was an achievement, a lesson and a challenge all together. We were able to sharpen our investigative skills, learn more tactics on VIP coverage and improve our traffic control skills,” she added.
Present during the ceremony were Deputy Army Commander Major General Albert Kendagor, Corps Commander Military Police Lt. Col James Kirumba, Senior Officers, Officers and Service Members.
