THE ARROWHEAD FINALLY SHARPENED FOR TROOPS DEPLOYING SOON IN SOMALIA

The adequately trained,committed and mission bound 2nd brigade troops in Nov 2022 assured the Deputy Army Commander (DAC),Major General Peter Muteti of their unmatched precision on target skills, acquired during their training that took place at Larisoro, Samburu County.

The troops who commenced their training in August 2022, successfully completed their pre-deployment training prior to deployment of the Second Africa Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS II). The troops are progressively, focused on achieving their mandate of handing over security functions to Somalia Forces as endorsed in United Nations Security Council Resolutions (UNSCR) 2628 of 1st April 2022, scheduled to end by December 2024.

Upon arrival, Maj Gen Muteti was briefed on the training achievements by the deputy Brigade Commander Col Boniface Chomba.He also visited 3KR at Simulated Forward Operations Base (FOB) to encourage the troops on the awaiting task.Furthermore,he observed an integrated training exercise and congratulated the troops for their preparedness and wished them success as they represent the country in Somalia.

“As we train let’s have faith,once you believe in yourself,no enemy can defeat you. We all have to comprehend the mission objectives and believe that we are going to achieve them.It’s a noble kind of undertaking to protect the interest that effectively contributes to regional stability”,stated Maj Gen Muteti.

The deputy Brigade Commander 2nd Brigade Col Boniface Chomba in his part expressed satisfaction that the training was a success, since it focused on mission readiness.

“The training has been successful and we are sure that our Soldiers are adquately prepared to counter any form of adversaries that comes there way”,Said Col Chomba.

The training has empowered the contingent with the requisite knowledge and skills for the peace support operation and mission ready,ahead of the deployment. It also provides an appreciation of current stabilization, and humanitarian efforts, in addition to garnering an awareness on the state of operations and security.

This comes at a time when KDF is highly involved in various peace keeping missions in East Africa,as the 1st batch of troops to rebel-hit eastern Congo arrived several days ago,under the banner of the East African Community Regional Force (EACRF),which is entrusted with the responsibility of demonstrating the African Union’s clarion call.

Also Present during the event were 6th brigade Commander,Brigadier Dixson Chivatsi ,Chief of Training,Headquarters Kenya Army, Brigadier Benedict Mzee other Senior Officers,Officers and Service members.
