NEW OFFICERS READY TO SERVE

H.E. Hon Uhuru Kenyatta the President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of Kenya Defence Forces on Friday, 26 November 2021 Commissioned Officer Cadets’ intake 09/2021, Specialists and Special Duty Officer Cadets at Kenya Military Academy, Lanet in Nakuru County.

In his speech, the President congratulated the newly-commissioned officers for their successful completion of a rigorous training program that involved academic as well as character development and military field trainings.

“We are here today to celebrate your commitment and dedication as well as the completion of your training. You are joining at a very unique time where our country is experiencing threats of territorial integrity, but am glad that Kenyans have trust in KDF and with the training you are better aligned with emerging threats across all domains,” he added.

“The spirit of joint training with allied African countries namely Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi and Rwanda reflects the true spirit of regional collaboration, cooperation and enhancing Pan- Africanism and friendship shared through this training,” the President added.

During the colorful commissioning ceremony, the C-in-C awarded Officer Cadets who excelled in various fields during the course of their three-year training.

The Best Officer Cadet in Leadership and Command and Winner of Sword of Honour was awarded to Senior Under Officer (SUO) Peter Kavuta while the Cadet Adjutant Jemimah Munyi was awarded the Best Officer Cadet in Academic Studies and Winner of Academic Studies. The Best Specialist Cadet in Professional Studies and Winner of Professional Studies award was Junior Under Officer (JUO) Hamisi Lubambo.

The Best Officer Cadet in Character Development and Winner of Character Development Award was JUO Emmanuel Baya of the Kenya Navy, whereas the Best Allied Officer Cadet in Order of Merit and Winner of Commandant’s Award was JUO Athmani Saidi of Tanzania People’s Defence Force. The award for the Best Overall Specialist Cadet in Academic Studies and Winner of Commandant’s Award went to Officer Cadet Kevin Mbuthia of Kenya Army.

The newly commissioned officers will report to their assigned units ready for deployment. Present during the Commissioning Parade were Chief of Defence Forces General Robert Kibochi, Service Commanders, General Officers, retired General Officers, Senior Officers, Senior National and County Government officials among others.
