The National Defence College (NDC) Course Cohort 27 (2024/2025) engaged in a clean-up exercise along the Nairobi River on Tuesday, 14th January 2025. This initiative was part of the college’s commitment to community service and environmental conservation.
The exercise served as a prelude to the upcoming NDC Cultural Day, scheduled for Saturday, 18th January 2025. Participants focused on a 3-kilometer stretch of the river, starting from the Ondiri Springs in Kikuyu, Kiambu County, where the river originates. This activity aimed to raise environmental awareness and highlight the importance of conserving the Nairobi River, a vital landmark of the city.
The clean-up was a collaborative effort involving the NDC course participants, staff, the Kiambu County Government, and the Friends of Ondiri non-profit organization.
Throughout the academic year, Course 27 has actively contributed to community initiatives, including tree planting at the Ondiri Springs, Lang’ata Women’s Prison, and the Nairobi Regional Hospital at Kahawa Garrison.
