KENYA SHIPYARDS LIMITED HOSTS KITALE PRIMARY SCHOOL
Class 8 pupils and staff from Kitale Primary School visited the Kenya Shipyards Limited (KSL) Mombasa Yard on an educational tour.
During the visit, the pupils were taken on a guided tour around the facility by the Yard Manager Captain Alio Boru.
Capt Boru explained that KSL’s mandate is to establish and develop growth of the ship-building industry in Eastern Africa through provision of world class construction, refit, repair, and maintenance of ships and other maritime vessels.
He highlighted some of the milestones and achievements achieved by the KSL which include the undergoing midlife refit of Kenya Navy Ship Shupavu, repair of Kenya Revenue Authority and Kenya Coast Guard Services boats among others.
The school headteacher Mr David Luganda expressed his gratitude to the Commander Kenya Navy,Maj Gen Jimson Mutai for offering the opportunity to the school fraternity to visit the facility.
He added the visit had offered them an opportunity to learn more about the operations of the KSL and that the knowledge will be very instrumental especially to the class 8 pupils.
