Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) troops operating in Somalia under the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) over the weekend and in the spirit of Eid Ul Fitr celebrations, donated foodstuff to residents of various areas in Somalia.
In Hoosingo and Bilis Qooqani, KDF troops donated rice, sugar, cooking oil, tea leaves, wheat flour, beans, tomatoes and cabbages.
In Barakadh Sherifadha and Qarsa, the soldiers made similar donations as well as clean water to the locals.
The Officers Commanding the Bases that made the donations indicated KDF’s commitment to improve the livelihood of the locals in their area of operation.
The communities together with their local administration, appreciated KDF’s efforts noting that this was an indicator of brotherhood geared towards peaceful and mutual co-existence with the forces.
The locals pledged support to KDF in fighting Al Shabaab terrorists for sustainable peace in Somalia.
