Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Muslim fraternity on 11th April 2023 distributed foodstuffs to the residents that have been greatly affected by floods as result of the ongoing rains in the country at Mororoo in Bangale Sub County, Tana River County.

During the exercise, over seventy households benefitted from assorted foodstuffs that included maize, beans, wheat flour, rice, cooking oil, among other household utilities that will help alleviate their suffering as they observe the Holy Month of Ramadhan.

Speaking while presiding over the exercise, Moi Air Base Imam Major Abdullahi Omar reiterated that KDF’s Muslim Community remains committed in taking care of the less privileged in the society more so during this period of Ramadhan.

“During this Holy Month of Ramadhan we are here to spread love and hope among one another and also thank God for His grace and blessings. The giving spirit is a beautiful aspect and attracts a great reward from Allah, therefore we should be intentional and mindful in everything we do,” said Major Omar.

The residents of Mororoo expressed gratitude to the soldiers for their kind gesture especially at a time when they are reconstructing their livelihoods after being affected by floods.

“We are very grateful to the KDF personnel who have donated these foodstuffs to us. Currently we lost our properties as a result of floods therefore these donations will help us as we seek to re-orientate ourselves.,” said Halima Jarso, Chairlady Maendeleo ya Wamawake at Mororoo.
