Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) General Francis Ogolla today held a meeting with Principals and Headteachers of the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) sponsored Primary and Secondary schools at the Defence Headquarters, in Nairobi.
Speaking during the meeting, General Ogolla highlighted the need to review measures to put in place for better future performance, urging the teachers to work together to ensure students receive quality education.
Conforming to the meeting’s theme; ‘Shaping KDF-sponsored schools into centers of academic excellence for effective and efficient learning,’ the CDF articulated the essentiality of having enough laboratories and computers, especially in junior secondary schools, to achieve academic excellence.
He urged the school heads to establish a high level of discipline in the schools and ensure quality mentorship to the teachers and staff for better performance.
During an interactive session with the teachers, Gen Ogolla advised them to provide a conducive environment for the students by avoiding radicalization and ensuring uniform standards are applied across all the KDF-sponsored schools.
The CDF thanked the teachers for their sterling work, which has been embodied by the excellent results attained in last year’s National examinations, and also assured them of progressive solutions to the challenges faced in the schools.
In the same breath, the school heads acknowledged the KDF leadership for their unwavering support by ensuring enough equipment and facilities as well as providing a platform to share ideas on developing the schools and promoting exceptional learning.
Also present during the meeting was the Principal Secretary for Defence Mr. Patrick Mariru, Vice Chief Of Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi, Service Commanders, and senior Officers.
