REAFFIRMING COMMITMENT TO ARMY MANDATE

At Kahawa Garrison on 26 September 2024, Kenya Army Formation Commanders convened for their annual conference, as they also signed Performance Contracts aimed at enhancing the Army’s mandate and improving resource management.

The two evens were presided over by Commander Kenya Army, Lieutenant General David Tarus, who emphasized the significance of performance contracting as a tool to foster commitment, accountability, and effective resource allocation.
“The contract you sign today will help you attain higher levels of effectiveness and meet targets, ensuring the Service fulfills its obligations even amid resource constraints,” he stated.

This year’s conference, themed “Youth Perspective on National Security: Understanding How Young People View National Security Issues,” focused on the youth’s role in shaping the country’s security. Guest speaker Dr. Maurice Mashiwa, a Policy and Strategy expert, highlighted the need for participative security that involves input from the younger generation.

In his closing remarks, Lt. Gen. Tarus stressed the importance of dynamic leadership in addressing the evolving security landscape. He urged Commanders to critically reassess their approaches to align with the Chief of the Defence Forces’ vision of “One Force, One Mission.”
