PRESIDENT UHURU KENYATTA OPENS  HEADQUARTERS FOR THE KENYA ARMY BAND AND DEFENCE FORCES SCHOOL OF MUSIC

His Excellency Honourable Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of the Republic of Kenya and Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of the Defence Forces on Friday 29 July 2022 opened the headquarters of the Kenya Army Band (KAB) and the Defence Forces School of Music (DEFSOM) in Lang’ata Garrison, Nairobi.

Following the opening, the President was taken on a tour of the two facilities as well as other finished projects within the Kenya Army Band premises.

The C-in-C also briefly attended an ongoing class at DEFSOM and took lessons in directing the KDF Band. He later applied the lessons when he directed the band in a rendition of the the song “Chaupele Mpenzi.” Later the band entertained the C-in-C with the renditions of the songs “My Land is Kenya, Wastahili Bwana and Uhuru Hoyee.”

In his remarks, the President appreciated the Kenya Defence Forces Band for continually inspiring not only fellow troops but also being an oasis of entertainment to the people of Kenya.
