Commander Kenya Navy Base (KNB) Manda, Brigadier Peter Chelimo, represented the Commander Kenya Navy, Major General Jimson Mutai in hosting the newly commissioned Kenya Navy Officers in a luncheon program dubbed ‘Dining in’ at the Kenya Navy Officers Mess.
The event aimed at welcoming the new Officers into the mess and provided a platform for fostering comradeship among the junior and senior officers.
Speaking during the luncheon, Brig Chelimo urged the young officers to be committed to sustaining mess ethics as they acquaint themselves with the Navy Mess traditions.
Brig Chelimo emphasized that the Naval Dining In is an important function steeped in tradition. He added that the function celebrates the unique bond that has held the military units together since time immemorial and urged them to ensure the survival of the long-standing tradition.
The Chief of Operations headquarter Kenya Navy Colonel Michael Atodonyang welcomed the newly commissioned officers to the Kenya Navy and counselled them to maintain the highest standards of ethics and finest traditions of the Kenya Navy.
“I welcome you all into the Service. This is just the beginning of your military life in what we hope will be a long and distinguished career of service to the nation,” said Col Atodonyang.
The function was graced by Commander Kenya Navy Fleet, Brigadier Sankale Kiswaa, Commandant Kenya Naval Training College, Col Eliud Keter, Senior Officers and Junior Officers.
