MAB INTER WING BALL GAMES COMPETITION COMES TO AN END

A two week tournament dubbed Moi Air Base (MAB) Inter-Wings ball game competition has come to an end today. The Tournament was held at Sina Makosa grounds and MAB gymnasium

The tournament marked the first sports edition for the year 2023. The annual event promotes and enhances physical fitness, competitive spirit and espirit de corps amongst the Officers, air men, and women at the Base.

In addition the competition was a talent search to form formidable teams to represent MAB in the Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) Bora cup Challenge.

During the tournament, Wings were divided into four teams for both men and women, which competed in football, volleyball, netball and basketball.

The climax of the tournament was the men football final between Headquarter Wing (HQW) and Technical Maintenance Unit (TMU) which was decided by penalties after it ended in a 1:1 stalemate. HQW went on to win the penalty shootout 4:2 goals.

In ladies football finals, the Technical Maintainance Unit (TMU) emerged winners after beating Central Supply Depot (CSD) 3 goals to 2.

HQW carried the day in the netball finals after beating Kenya Air Force Training Wing (KTW), CSD emerged 3rd.

Basketball women was won by KTW followed by HQW, TMU were the 2nd runner-up.

In men’s basketball competition Flight Support Wing (FSW) were the winners HQW came second followed by KTW.

KTW emerged the winners in women volleyball, FSW were the runner-up followed by HQW.

In men volleyball TMU took 1st position followed by KTW and CSD respectively.

HQW emerged the best overall team followed by followed by KTW.

In the individual awards, Sergeant Salim was the top scorer, best goalkeeper was awarded to Senior Private Onyango and most valuable player was awarded to Senior Private Mwangi.

Speaking while presiding over the closing ceremony, Col Wafula thanked the Base Commander MAB for his support and emphasised that the event was a success.

“I also take this opportunity to thank the participants for making the event colourful and successful and I appreciate all our sponsors who participate to make the event a success,” he added.

“I am happy everyone has a trophy to take back to their Commanding Officer and as you go to participate in the Bora Cup competition i challenge you to do your best” reitareted Col Wafula.

Also in attendance were Commanding Officer incharge of sports Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Kahindi, Senior Officers, Officers, Service members and corporate sponsors .
