KENYA NAVY DELIVERS AID TO THE RESIDENTS OF KWALE COUNTY

A team from the Kenya Navy Roman Catholic Church, Our Lady Star of the Sea, Mtongwe donated beds and assorted food items to residents of Kinango Constituency, Kwale County on Saturday 25 June 2022.

The exercise was held in partnership with a medical team from the Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa which conducted a free medical aid to the area residents where over 200 patients comprising children, women and the elderly received treatment for various ailments.

The team, led Major Father Francis Chikopwe, donated clothes, bales of flour, rice and beans to Kinango School for the Deaf, and 25 beds to St. Luke’s Integrated School for the Visually Impaired.

The Commanding Officer Kenya Navy Base Mtongwe, Lt Col Dickens Kombo emphasized on Kenya Navy’s commitment in supporting the community with resources and means of improving their livelihoods.

“It has been a pleasure and our humble duty to make a difference and put a smile to your faces. This is a noble way of enhancing our relationship and upholding the image and goodwill of the Kenya Navy even as we inculcate positive attitude in this community, ‘’said Lt Colonel Kombo.

Father Antony Muigai, Parish Priest at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kinango Parish, appreciated the sacrifice made by the team through their donations citing challenges of feeding and clothing due to the tough economic times.

“It costs a lot to educate and cater for children with disability, therefore these donations will go a long way in ensuring these children are comfortable and feel appreciated,” said Father Muigai.
