KENYA ARMY CORPS OF TRANSPORT PARTICIPATES IN A TREE PLANTING EXERCISE

Kenya Army Corps of Transport (KACT) on Wednesday, 17 2021 participated in a tree planting exercise in Kinangop Sub-county where they planted 5,000 trees at Karima Girl’s High School. The tree planting exercise took place simultaneously in 74 other schools in the region.

The Kenya Army Corps of Transport commander, Colonel M L Lenamunai stated that the exercise is in tandem with KDF efforts towards actualizing environmental sustainability goals as well as enhancing environmental soldier programme which was rolled out back 2003. He further stated, KACT as part of the larger KDF fraternity, has an equal responsibility of ensuring success of environmental programme by planting a set of annual tree targets. He indicated that this will go a long way in mitigating environmental degradation as well as inculcating tree planting culture among the service personnel.

Present during the event were representatives from Greens Africa Foundation, Dedan Kimathi Foundation, Principal Karima Girls, Equity Bank and the Assistant County Commissioner.
