KENYA ARMY CORPS OF TRANSPORT FOSTERS ENVIRONMENTAL SOLDIER PROGRAM

On  13 July 2022, Kenya Army Corps of Transport took  part in the planting of over 30,000 trees at Ragia Forest at the border between Nyandarua and Kiambu County.

The event which was presided over by the Chief Conservator of Forests at the Kenya Forest Service, Mr.  Julius Kamau,  also brought on board a host of county governments and local residents.

In his addres, Mr. Kamau applauded KDF for being at the forefront in conservation of forests through the  Environmental  Soldier Program. “Through joint efforts with other stakeholders including KDF we have already achieved 12 % of forest cover and I urge all of us to keep pulling together in our journey towards achieving 30% forest cover by the year 2050,” he said.

KDF continues to complement Kenya Forest Service efforts in rehabilitation and restoration of degraded forests through the Environmental Soldier Program (ESP) which was initiated in 2018. The main aim of the program is to restore and protect the already dilapidated forest cover.
