KDF PLANTS TREES TO COMMEMORATE THE INTERNATIONAL DAY FOR THE CONSERVATION OF THE MANGROVE ECOSYSTEM

The Kenya Navy took part in celebrating the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem by planting trees in the coastal region. Over 300,000 mangrove propagules were planted across the coastal counties culminating to the final exercise at Mirironi and Jomvu.

The exercise was in collaboration with the Kenya Forest Service, Eden Reforestation Projects, Kenya Coast Guard Service, Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI), Insurance Regulatory Authority, Base Titanium, local community, CBOs, and the Mombasa County Government

The exercise which took place within the scope of KDF’s mandate; to protect and defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country aims at addressing matters of environmental protection.

KDF looks forward to a long-term partnership with the communities, government agencies and other like-minded partners towards ensuring the conservation and protection of this vital ecosystem.
