On 23rd August 2022, the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) Director of Medical Services, Major General (Dr) George Ng’ang’a hosted the the Chief Executive Officer National Hospital Insurance Fund (NHIF) Dr Peter Kamunyo at the KDF Level IV Nairobi Regional Hospital, in Kahawa Garrison.
During the visit, the leaders explored possible areas of partnership between KDF and NHIF among them the possibility of KDF offering healthcare services to Defence Force Canteen Organisation (DEFCO) staff using the NHIF card.
Additionally, deliberations were made on how to incorporate various NHIF packages starting with all KDF level IV healthcare facilities. Considerations were also made on how KDF can provide healthcare services to other selected NHIF clients in future.
