KDF sub unit deployed in Gherille Forward Operating Base while on patrol within Gherille Centre came to the aid of an expectant mother who was due for delivery. The mother had travelled from Gherille (Somalia) and sought delivery services at the Gherille (Kenya) Dispensary which has limited medical capabilities.
The patrol with the limited medical resources available managed to facilitate a safe delivery within 30 minutes, much to the relief of the mother who had been in labour for a couple of hours.
The mother, Mrs. Quresha Mungay gave birth to a healthy baby girl weighing approximately 3.5 kilogrammes. The mother and the new born were later handed over to the Gherille health facility for postnatal care.
