Defence Principal Secretary Mr. Patrick Mariru and his counterpart for Medical Services Mr. Harry Kimtai have this evening signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Defence and the Kenya Medical Research Institute (KEMRI) to enhance cross collaboration between the two government institutions.
This is a ten-year pact that shall enable MoD and KEMRI to collaborate in several avenues including research, educational program and capacity development, national emergencies, biosecurity as well as personnel exchange.
Mr. Mariru noted that, in a whole government approach model, strategic consultations and collaboration between the various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) is key for effective and efficient service delivery to the Kenyan people.
The Vice Chief of Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Jonah Mwangi, Director of Medical Services (DMS) at the Defence Headquarters Major General Dr. George Ng’ang’a, Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth and senior officials from MoD and Ministry of Health (MoH) were present.
