The Cabinet Secretary for Defence Hon. Aden Duale has today held a series of security meetings in various places in Wajir County with an aim of enhancing peace and stability in the region.
The CS visited Diff, Gherille, Kotulo and Konton in the company of area leaders, security teams and local community where he emphasized on the need for concerted efforts in order to wage a successful war against terrorism and violent extremism.
He reiterated that the militia shall not find a safe haven in Kenya once they are flushed out of Somalia saying that the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) and other security teams remain vigilant and steadfast to degrade the terrorist- related activities.
He said the Ministry of Defence shall continue enhancing the capability of the Kenya Defence Forces to acquire modern and sophisticated weapons to enhance the force posture and enable the military combat the ever changing security threat.
In order to reduce the conflicts arising from scramble for resources, Hon. Duale commissioned the construction of a borehole at Gherille that shall be drilled by the KDF to supply clean water for the local community.
Present was the General Officer Commanding Eastern Command (GOC EastComm) Major General Juma Mwinyikai, a host of Members of Parliament from the region among them Hon. Aden Daud (Wajir East), Hon Hussein Barre (Tarbaj), Hon Mohammed Adow (Wajir South), Hon Abdul Ibrahim (Mandera South) as well as Hon. Farah Maalim Bishar from Burhaje in Somalia.
