COMMANDER KENYA AIR FORCE BREAKS GROUND FOR AIR WOMEN ACCOMMODATION PROJECT

On Monday 25th November 2024, the Commander of the Kenya Air Force (KAF), Major General Fatuma Ahmed, led the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Air Women Accommodation project at Moi Air Base (MAB), Eastleigh.

This milestone initiative aims to enhance the welfare of female service members as part of the Kenya Defence Forces’ (KDF) mission to promote inclusivity and gender equity.

The accommodation project, planned to modern standards, will provide a comfortable and supportive living environment for over 100 personnel. The development, structured in four phases, will feature amenities such as private toilets, a dedicated laundry area, and communal spaces designed to foster teamwork and camaraderie.

During the ceremony, Brigadier Bernard Oluoch, Base Commander of Moi Air Base, thanked Major General Ahmed’s for her leadership and her decision to select Moi Air Base for this transformative initiative. He expressed optimism that the project would set a model for similar developments at other bases.

In her address, Major General Ahmed highlighted the importance of service member welfare in achieving operational readiness.
“Today’s project is a flagship initiative addressing the housing shortage and setting a new benchmark for service member welfare. It ensures a conducive environment for operational readiness and boosts morale,” she stated.

The Air Women Accommodation project represents a significant investment in service member welfare, reaffirming the Kenya Air Force’s commitment to creating a supportive and inclusive environment that enhances both morale and operational readiness.
