VICE CHIEF OF THE DEFENCE FORCES PRESIDES OVER GROUND BREAKING CEREMONY OF THE WARRANT OFFICERS AND SERGEANTS’ MESS

The Vice Chief of the Defence Forces Lieutenant General Francis Ogolla, today 23 November 2021, presided over the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the Warrant Officers and Sergeant’s Mess at the Defence Headquarters.

In his speech, the VCDF pointed out that such facilities are important for the soldiers’ welfare indicating that the welfare and morale of the troops is a key pillar in enhancing operational readiness and a major component of combat power.
“Service members working at the Defence Headquarters and the Kenya Army Headquarters have been having serious challenges due to inadequate accommodation facilities, and for that reason, modern messing and accommodation facilities have been approved by the leadership, “said the VCDF.

He further noted that, there will be two phases of the projects, Phase one entails construction of an ultra-modern messing facility which will comprise of a two storey building whose capacity is 1,000 personnel and a Dining Hall with seating capacity of 300 personnel. Phase two encompasses the construction of a seven storey building accommodation for the Warrant Officers’ and the Non-Commissioned Officers with self-contained rooms.

The VCDF thanked the CDF and the government of Kenya for the support rendered to ensure the welfare of service personnel is guaranteed.

Present at the ground breaking were Assistant Chief of the Defence Forces Operations, Doctrine and Training (ACDF OPD & T) Major General Peter K Muteti, Senior Officers, Officers and Service Members.
