UK MINISTER OF STATE FOR ARMED FORCES VISITS CITSO, IN NANYUKI

Right Honourable James Heappey MP, the United Kingdom Minister of State for Armed Forces today 26th February 2024 visited the Counter Insurgency Terrorism and Stability Operations (CITSO) Training Center in Nanyuki, Laikipia County.

Upon his arrival, Honorable James Heappey was warmly received by Commandant CITSO Brigadier Roba Wario. The Commandant provided a comprehensive briefing on the training center, highlighting its significance and operations. Subsequently, Minister Heappey had the privilege of witnessing an impressive demonstration of urban operations conducted as part of the Joint Multinational Field Training Exercise (FTX), aptly named Justified Accord 2024. This exercise showcases the collaborative efforts of multiple nations in preparing for complex security scenarios. Minister Heappey’s engagement underscores the importance of international cooperation in addressing global security challenges.

During the briefing, the commandant reiterated CITSO’s objectives to sharpen skills, enhance capacity, improve performance, and foster affordability to achieve a competitive edge in the ever-evolving and intricate security landscape. The commandant added that CITSO emphasizes national synergy through integration, synchronization, and coordination of military Operations with the activities of multi-agency partners.

UK Minister for Armed Forces was accompanied by the UK’s Defense Advisor in Kenya, Brigadier Ronnie Westerman, BATUK Commander Colonel Andrew Wilde, Chief of Training DHQ Colonel Paul Koech, UK and US military Officers.
