STRENGTHENING INDIA-KENYA NAVAL RELATIONS

On 23 September 2024, Captain Jithu George, Commanding Officer of the Indian Naval Ship (INS) Talwar, paid a courtesy visit to Deputy Commander Kenya Navy, Brigadier Sankale Kiswaa, at Kenya Navy Headquarters. Their discussions focused on maritime security and stability in the high seas, which are crucial for harnessing the potential of the Blue Economy.

The two Commanders explored opportunities for future collaboration to strengthen bilateral and military ties between the two nations. The visit also sought to enhance professional engagement between the Kenya and India navies, promoting better interoperability and cooperation in the maritime domain.

Both countries recognize the importance of maintaining secure waters in the Indian Ocean to ensure safety and prosperity through joint efforts.
The visit occurred while INS Talwar was docked at Mombasa Port for a three-day stay.

Also present during the visit were Chief of Naval Medical Services, Brigadier (Dr.) Justino Muinde; Deputy Commander Mtongwe Base, Colonel Wilberforce Murimi; among other senior officers.
