RACE TOWARDS CDF BORA CUP

Commander Kenya Navy Base (KNB) Mtongwe, Brigadier Peter Chelimo, officially presided over the closing ceremony of a three-day inter-units football tournament held at Kenya Navy Headquarters, Lieutenant Colonel Kimaro Stadium.

The tournament, whose main aim was to select the team that will represent Kenya Navy (KN) in the forthcoming Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) Bora Cup, saw different teams from the KN Formations participate in the first football sports edition for the year 2024.

In the male category, the clash between Kenya Navy Base (KNB) Manda and Kenya Navy Fleet (KNF) was the apex as both teams showcased football prowess. After a nail-biting contest, the KNF emerged winners after whipping KNB Manda 4-0.

In the ladies’ finals, KNF played against KNB Mtongwe where KNB emerged victorious with a 1-0 win.

Speaking on behalf of the Commander Kenya Navy, Major General Jimson Mutai, Brigadier Chelimo commended the teams for their dedication and exceptional teamwork exhibited in the field.

“I am pleased with the quality of talent exhibited during these tournaments over the past three days. The focus, determination and discipline showcased are exceptional and I urge you to continue with the same spirit. Sporting activities are important for all the KDF personnel in ensuring physical fitness and wellness,” he said.

In his address, the Base Commander congratulated the participants and the selected teams and commended them to represent Kenya Navy well in the forthcoming CDF Bora Cup.

In attendance were, Kenya Navy Fleet Commander Brigadier Kiswaa, Senior Officers, Officers and service members.
