PS MARIRU LEADS MINISTRY’S HODs IN LEADERSHIP TRAINING

Defence Principal Secretary, Mr Patrick Mariru is leading the Heads of Department from the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and their deputies in a week-long training in Leadership and Productivity Management in Naivasha.

The training organized by the National Productivity and Competitiveness Centre (NPCC) is aimed at sensitizing the MoD departmental Heads on Government Productivity Management.
The training is part of the awareness and sensitization exercise by NPCC which is aligned to the National Productivity Policy, Sessional Paper No 3 of 2013.

The Sessional Paper targets to empower Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to embrace mechanisms that adopts innovation and continuous improvement techniques within the work place.

In his opening remarks, the PS noted that incorporating Productivity Management in the Performance Contract reporting tool will facilitate prudent use of public resources by preventing wastage, which will increase output and ensure maximum performance in the Public Service.

Mr. Mariru implored the participants to cascade the knowledge acquired to all staff in the Ministry for ease of coordination and compliance.

Present during the training were MoD Productivity Committee Members and Champions that include heads of department and senior officers from the Ministry.
