The Principal Secretary for Defence, Dr. Patrick Mariru, convened a meeting with the Ministry of Defence’s Heads of Departments today to review the Ministry’s progress in the 2024/25 fiscal year and discuss the path forward to meet the set objectives within designated timelines.
Dr. Mariru emphasized the vital role of teamwork and a consultative approach, encouraging Heads to collaborate closely, noting that efficiency and effective service delivery are rooted in unity and coordination.
A special highlight of the meeting was the presentation of National Honours and Awards medals to the Heads of Departments. These medals, awarded by the Head of State during last year’s Jamhuri Day celebrations, honored individuals for their dedication and achievements. Among the awardees were Dr. Lilian Nzavi, Mr. Kennedy Okondo, and Mr. Kenneth Radul, recognized for their outstanding contributions as civilian staff.
Reflecting on the significance of these awards, Dr. Mariru reminded the Heads of their immense responsibility and the privilege of their roles, encouraging them to strive for excellence and inspire their teams to reach even greater milestones.
