Defence Principal Secretary Mr. Patrick Mariru, accompanied by Vice Chief of Defence Forces, Lt. Gen Jonah Mwangi appeared before the National Assembly Committee on Defence, Intelligence, and Foreign Relations. They convened to discuss the Ministry of Defence (MOD) policies, programs, and expenditure ceilings outlined in the 2024 Budget Policy Statement (BPS).
Chaired by Hon. Nelson Koech, Member of Parliament for Belgut, the Committee received a briefing on MOD expenditure ceilings for 2024.
PS Mariru addressed key issues crucial for enabling the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) to effectively fulfil their mandate.
The PS expressed gratitude for the support extended to the Ministry by the National Assembly and National Treasury. This support has facilitated the effective implementation of mandated policies and programs.
The committee Chairperson Hon. Koech commended the Ministry for its efforts in ensuring a secure and peaceful country.
