PRESIDENT RUTO PRESIDES OVER CADETS COMMISSIONING PARADE.

His Excellency Dr. William Ruto, the President of the Republic of Kenya and the Commander-in-Chief (C-in-C) of the Kenya Defence Forces has today Friday, 31 May 2024 presided over the Commissioning Parade of General Service Officer Cadets 11/24, specialists/Special Duty Officers (SDO) 01/23 at the Kenya Military Academy (KMA), Nakuru county.

The Cadets have undergone training that encompasses intellectual and character development to prepare them for military leadership.

In his remarks, the Commander-in-Chief applauded them for enduring rigorous preparation, challenging test and difficult exercise until their commissioning.He further urged them to appreciate their duties as future leaders of KDF and be at the forefront of devising imaginative and efficient strategies to combat threats effectively.

“Today you are not merely graduating,you are embracing a sacred calling to lead,command and manage troops and resources of the KDF with sound judgement even in situations of extreme hardship. The multiplicity,magnitude, and dynamism of security challenges in today’s globalised and interconnected world demand a robust strategic mindset capable of constantly keeping risk at bay through innovative and proactive approaches.

The best officer cadet in leadership and command, was Senior Under Officer (SUO) Hillary Kipkut while parade adjutant Mercy Katunge Muli was the best overall cadet in order of merit and academic studies. The best Allied Officer Cadet in order of merit and the winner of the commandant’s shield was Junior Under Officer (JUO) Modeste Havugimana from the Rwanda Defence Forces(RDF).

The newly commissioned GSO officers have graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Military Science, while the specialist cadets have been mastered in their various professional courses.

The allied cadets that trained with the KDF were drawn from Burundi, Rwanda, Tanzania and Uganda.

Also present during the ceremony were Defence Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Charles Kahariri, Principal Secretary Patrick Mariru, Vice Chief of Defence Forces (VCDF) Lieutenant General Omenda, Service Commanders, senior government officials, General Officers, Senior Officers, Officers, service members and their families.
