‘OMU’ MULTI AGENCY TEAM IN CONJUNCTION WITH NCIC CONDUCT A MULTI-TRIBAL PEACE MEETING IN TURKANA COUNTY.

As the ‘Operation Maliza Uhalifu’ Multi agency team continues to make strides in restoring peace and normalcy in the North Rift, in conjunction with the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), conducted an integral peace meeting at Lomelo in Turkana County.

The meeting integrated security officers from the KDF, NPS, National government Administration officers (NGAO), NCIC representatives, communities from Turkana, Baringo and Samburu Counties. The local leadership and the residents were given a platform to give intuition and recommendations seeking a lasting and sustainable solution to insecurity and incessant banditry in the region.

With the meeting being the first one after almost two decades, all present from the different counties appreciated the move by the Multi agency team and NCIC, affirming the meeting as a great milestone to combine the communities that has always engaged in intercommunal wars for many years. “We are very grateful for this meeting, all we are hoping is we will all embrace what we have discussed and continue with peaceful coexistence.” Said Mr. Jackson Ekwang, Chief Lomelo.

The Multi agency operation team under ‘ Operation Maliza Uhalifu ‘ continues to remain steadfast and resilient and always ready to partner with agencies purposing in pacifying the North Rift region.
