Members of the Military Wives Association of Kenya (MWAK) in conjunction with officials from the Defence Headquarters Education sub-branch and the Camp Administration Unit on 13 October 2022 visited the Defence Headquarters Academy situated at Defence Headquarters in Nairobi.
The visit was aimed at appraising the Association on the strengths of the institution and it’s challenges while understanding the operations that offer education to children in Early Childhood Development Education (ECDE) level as well as primary school level from grade one to three.
This is in line with MWAK’s education pillar in their 2020-2025 Strategic Plan of making KDF sponsored schools centres of academic excellence.
MWAK Chairlady, Mrs Tabitha Kibochi lauded the leadership of the institution led by the head teacher, Ms Anastasia Mbithe for their commitment to pass on knowledge to the pupils and instilling a high sense of discipline and to make them dependable members of the society in the future.
MWAK shared light moments with the pupils before handing over new furniture; tables and chairs. The children were also given goodies by the association as a form of motivation.
“We came here to present these items but we shall come formally to reward the top performers in every class as well as the most improved. I urge you to put more effort in your studies so you can be people of great impact in the society during your times,” said Mrs Kibochi.
MWAK Chairlady was flanked by her Vice, Mrs Aileen Ogolla and other MWAK members. Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Francis Ng’ang’a who represented Camp Admin Unit Commandant alongside representatives from Defence Headquarters Compesation & Welfare department were also present during the occasion.
