MEDALS FOR KDF PEACE MONITORS IN SOUTH SUDAN

16 July 2021, Ceasefire & Transitional Security Arrangement Mechanism, Monitoring and Verification (CTSAMVM), an Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) mechanism for monitoring compliance in implementation of Peace Agreement in South Sudan awarded the outgoing Kenya Defence Forces personnel in Juba South Sudan.

The medals of Honor were in recognition of astute contribution by the Monitors, in the implementation process of Revitalized Agreement on Resolution of Conflict in South Sudan (R-ARCSS) signed on 12 September 2018.

The awards were made by CTSAMVM Chief of Staff Mr John Victor Scudder and the Manager of Human Resources Maj Saa Muli on behalf of CTSAMVM Chairperson Major General Teshome Gemechu Aderie.

In his speech, The Chief of Staff thanked all the outgoing Peace Monitors for their commitment and dedication towards implementation of peace process in South Sudan. Speaking on behalf of the outgoing Kenyan Monitors, Maj Joseph Ogire thanked CTSAMVM leadership for timely operational and logistical support while in field deployments and urged the mechanism to continue embracing the path of peace for a better South Sudan.

Kenya Defence Forces has remained a key contributor of personnel to the IGAD Monitoring and Verification Mechanism since its inception in August 2015.
