MANDA BAY END OF YEAR VISIT

Commander Kenya Navy (KN) Major General (Maj Gen) Jimson Mutai toured the Kenya Navy Base (KNB) Manda Bay in Lamu County as part of the Commander’s end of year tour of Kenya Navy Bases.

The Commander’s visit affirmed the Base’s operational and mission readiness. It was also an opportunity to wish the Manda Bay Base personnel happy holidays and happy new year.

In his address Major General Mutai urged the KN personnel to remain vigilant and alert during this festive season as threats are still imminent in the area of operation.

“Let us all remain vigilant, alert and dedicated to duty. We must secure our country, our facilities and ourselves. We must be active to defeat any adversary,” said the Commander.

He applauded the sailors for the hard work and sacrifices they have shown all through the year to ensure that the country’s borders are secured from any seaborne aggression.

“I urge you to continue conducting yourselves with professionalism in any task assigned to you, like most of you have throughout the year. Be disciplined, courageous and dedicated in all your duties and be mission ready for all tasks ahead.”

The Commander finalized his address by reminding the sailors to continue practicing the laid-out COVID 19 protocols to curb the spread of the disease.

During the visit, Major General Mutai laid a wreath at the KNB Manda Bay monument in honor of the sailors who paid the ultimate price in defence of the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.

Later, he visited the KNB Manda Trauma Center to assess its operational level and cheer- up the patients receiving treatment at the facility.

Present during the visit were KN Formation Commanders, senior officers, officers and service personnel.
