The Kenya Military Academy (KMA), a College of the National Defence University-Kenya (NDU-K), recently hosted its 5th Commandant’s Inter-Intake Sports Competition at the Academy’s grounds in Lanet and Lions Hill Range, in Nakuru County.
This annual event aims to foster a competitive yet professional environment for cadets outside the classroom, promoting team spirit, character development, and a winning mentality.
The two-day event was graced by Colonel Erick Lovega, Commandant Officer Cadet School, who emphasized the role of sports in enhancing esprit de corps, self-discipline, and a healthy lifestyle, all of which are integral to the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) ethos. He encouraged participants to continue improving their physical fitness and talents.
Cadets and KMA faculty and staff competed in various sports, including football, basketball, netball, volleyball, swimming, range competition, and cross-country events. Cadet intake 12/25 stood out by winning awards in athletics, netball, basketball, and handball.
The event was attended by KMA faculty, cadets, and corporate sponsors, highlighting the importance of teamwork, fitness, and sportsmanship in cadet training.
